Vendor Spotlight : Colonial Events

Colonial Party and Event Rental
For years we have had the opportunity to work with many rental companies providing products and services for corporate and social events. Often we may have a request for something not part of their inventory. Usually the response is “we don't have that.” It isn't often that you hear the added response “I can offer you the name and number of someone who carries that.” or “We’d be happy to take care of that for you.”
We have enjoyed working with Eric and Todd, owners of Colonial for years. Earlier it was for tents, tables, chairs and a lot of the primary reasons.
They have evolved incorporating much more in lighting, furniture, fabrics, backdrops and specialty dishware and more! Something that makes them stand above the rest is their attention to detail and passion for design services. They hire crews that work diligently and professionally. We are extremely happy to work with Colonial Events on our bigger jobs with the knowledge that it will be done correctly.

Vendors Spotlight: Dal Bouey Productions

This spotlight posting has been forthcoming for some time! So much should and could be written regarding Dal Bouey. The first time we were exposed to her was Fishbones restaurant in Southfield, MI. Christopher and I enjoyed the performance and left with an appreciation for the entertainment. Keep in mind that we were also investigating bands for our wedding reception. After being faced with price-shock and some homophobic mentality we were frustrated in securing a talent for our event. After scratching our heads we made a list of potential artists.
To the list we added Dal Bouey without even knowing if she would consider playing a private event. We had taken one of her business cards to add to our potential vendor list for corporate events and maybe weddings. After connecting with her; learning of her interest and availability to perform both types of venues including OUR same-sex marriage we made plans for the next step. Long story short, we saw her performance again with our wedding planner and good friend, Karen. She encouraged us to secure her services as soon as possible and we will sort the details!
Dal Bouey Productions performed at our wedding. We have continued to refer and book her for additional weddings and some corporate events. Dal has played annually for Naranja Nights fundraiser at a reduced fee. She remains a great friend and inspiration. I  enjoy seeing her play the area venues and casinos. Dal Bouey and her incredible band members can be found by visiting her calendar of events on her website, www.dalbouey.com

Brooke & Joe

Brooke & Joe's wedding reception at Orchard Lake Country Club. Thanks to Luxe Linen for helping us complete the picture for this special couple.

Vendor Spotlight: LaPerfetto Cappuccino

Getting ready to write this spotlight and forced to think about the beginning relationship with Marianne and Dennis and LaPerfetto. I am comfortable saying that our working relationship goes back nearly 20 years. Having worked with many other clients' choices always brings us back to this place!
Christopher and I have spoken highly of the continued quality of the business they present. We have enjoyed the progression of offerings beyond a coffee drink. The added Smoothies were a timely addition to remain competative. We remark how focused their drive is on educating potential customers and what they should/could expect.
Their overall presentation of the coffee cart fully decked out with the  umbrella is an escape from the moment and transpose you to a barrista street cart.
Connor, who has assumed the direction and growth of the company. Is the natural progression in this family owned business.

Planners/Coordinator

Christopher & Company is a special event production company offering a variety of options for our clients. We enjoy being a complete resource for our clients but sometimes we may only be hired to assist as the planner or coordinator for the event.

When hiring a wedding planner or coordinator for your special day there are things you should be comfortable and need to be prepared to do. The plans for the day need to be clearly spelled out including all of the vendors and what is expected of them. A copy of the contract providing a list of what the vendor will provide is key to the success of your event. This appears to be one of the big challenges in producing a successful wedding day which should be an easy task.  We recently encountered this problem during a wedding reception and a live band and performance duration.  A simple review of the contract would have been an easy solution. However, because we didn't have the signed agreement it complicated the issue further. We were able to resolve the issue to the bride and groom's favor with the help of one of the contracted band members who had a copy of the contract! A lucky plus in our favor.

Casey & Jeff's wedding

Had the pleasure of coordinating the incredible wedding of a great couple, Casey and Jeff.  Not only that, Christopher, Sue and Michelle assisted with floraland stationery items! Here's a few images from the day.
